I got a mystery package in the the mail today. I wasn’t expecting anything magic-related and when I opened it, an unreleased copy of Metal by Eric Jones was there. I smiled, wide.
There was a nice letter inside the package too, and after some reading here and there I found out about the 1929 Walking Liberty half dollars contest. I’m thinking about giving this one away and placing an order just to get a chance on those sweet pieces of silver…

This Halloween we invite you to join us (Dan and Dave), if you dare, in the most haunting video contest we’ve hosted yet! But beware — if you fail to raise our hair, your video will be tossed out in despair. Muahahahaha!
Okay, enough with all this trick or cheesy. This Halloween, send us an original video featuring any magic trick of a spooky nature, presentation, or theme and we’ll send you a treat! The more frightening your video is, the tastier the treat will be!
Choose your effect wisely and pay careful attention to the subject matter, palette, mood, atmosphere, lighting, editing, sound effects, and music — these are all aspects you can use to scare-ify your video. What we are not looking for and do not wish to see are poorly-cut-out horror figures thrown on top of an old video. This might scare grandma, but not us! We’ve seen all the tricks, so your chances of getting us to jump are very unlikely.
We’re looking for creativity, sound performances, and thorough execution. Make it hauntingly horrifying, ghostly frightening, bloody appalling… you know the rest. Do your best to trick us and we’ll supply the treats! Have fun!
Treats to be handed out may include any number of the following: Videos On Demand, Gift Certificates, Playing Cards, HD Downloads, Coupons, and the grand treat of all: a signed copy of Uzumaki!
Remember, EVERYONE who tricks Dan and Dave gets a treat!

The Ellusionist-created Bicycle Black Ghost First edition decks have become something of legend. If you are familiar with the Black Ghost First edition tale, then you already know why these have been so sought after.
If you are new to what the Black Ghost first edition deck is, they are a short run of a black version of the Bicycle Ghost deck printed back in 2004. These decks became available in 2005 as part of our now-legendary holiday promotions. Since then, they have become an ultra-rare and highly-sought collector’s item. The Black Ghost First Edition decks are now in short supply at Ellusionist. Only 5000 decks were ever made at the US Playing Card Co. Since 2005, most of these decks have found their way into magicians hands rendering them all the more sought after. Of that 5000 deck supply, there are only about 2500 in circulation over the past 6 years.
They will NEVER be reprinted, nor sold at Ellusionist. The ONLY way to obtain one is through one of the many promotions or giveaways we have here at E.
The Black Ghost First Edition decks are quickly becoming extinct. It isn’t uncommon to see one selling for $400 on Ebay from time to time.
To own one is to have full bragging rights.
When these decks were run at the US Playing card company, Ellusionist secured 100 Black Ghost First Edition full Uncut Card Sheets right off of the press. Of these original 100, only about 15 uncut sheets are in circulation in the entire world. Their value is largely undetermined due to the scarcity of this very limited collectible.
